Contact the clinic and mention any specific concerns or conditions you want addressed when scheduling your appointment. You can do this either by phone or our online contact form. Patients will receive pre-visit instructions on what to bring, like your current glasses or contact lenses, a list of medications, and your eye care history. You might also be advised to avoid wearing contacts before your appointment. Don’t forget to bring your insurance details, ID, and any relevant medical records. During Your
Appointment

Be ready to share your eye health history, current symptoms, past eye conditions, and overall health information to help us provide you with the best care. We may dilate your pupils to examine the back of your eyes, which can cause temporary light sensitivity and blurred vision. We recommend bringing sunglasses and arranging transportation for after your appointment. You’ll undergo a variety of tests, including visual acuity, refraction, and eye structure exams to detect any issues.

After Your
Appointment

After your exam, we’ll thoroughly review your results and explain any changes in your vision or eye health. If you need a new prescription, we’ll provide recommendations that may include glasses, contact lenses, lifestyle adjustments, additional treatments, or follow-up visits to keep your eyes healthy. Throughout the process, our team is here to answer your questions and support you in maintaining clear, healthy vision for life!

FAQ

A comprehensive eye exam includes vision testing, eye pressure measurement, pupil dilation, retinal examination, and certain screenings for eye diseases and conditions.

Adults should have comprehensive eye exams every 1-2 years, but people over 60, children, or patients with risk factors may need more frequent exams. We may recommend more frequent visits based on your age, health, and vision needs.

Dilation is typically recommended as it allows for a complete examination of the retina and optic nerve to detect potential problems. We recommend bringing sunglasses to your appointment and arranging for transportation after to avoid issues with dilation.

Bring your insurance card, current eyeglasses or contacts, a list of medications, and any relevant medical history. If we need additional information, one of our staff members will contact you prior to your appointment.

A complete eye exam typically takes 60-90 minutes, depending on your specific needs and test requirements.

Yes, in-depth eye exams can reveal signs of diabetes, high blood pressure, autoimmune disorders, and other systemic health conditions.

A vision screening is a basic test, while a comprehensive exam is a thorough evaluation of eye health and vision performed by an eye care professional. As part of our comprehensive eye exam, we perform vision screenings.

Most insurance plans cover routine comprehensive eye exams, but coverage varies by plan and provider. We recommend talking with your insurance provider before your appointment, but our staff is available to answer any insurance-related questions you may have.

If your eyes are dilated, your vision may be blurry for 4-6 hours. We do not recommend driving after dilation, so please arrange alternative transportation. We will remind you of this during scheduling.

We’ll recommend a follow-up schedule based on your age, risk factors, and current eye health status. Typically, most people will need a comprehensive eye exam at least once every 1-2 years.
